No. 23 Nebraska whips Wisconsin, equals best start in school history

Mandatory Credit: Dylan Widger-Imagn Images Rienk Mast had his third double-double of the season and No. 23 Nebraska matched multiple school-record win streaks in a 90-60 win over Wisconsin in a Big Ten Conference game Wednesday night in Lincoln, Neb.
The Cornhuskers (10-0, 1-0 Big Ten) matched their best start to a season in school history, first accomplished in 1977-78. Their 14 consecutive wins dating back to last season are tied for the longest streak in school history, previously achieved in 1990-91.
Mast had 17 points and 10 rebounds while Braden Frager added 15, Berke Buyuktuncel and Pryce Sandfort 14 and Sam Hoiberg 12 for Nebraska, which shot 54.1% overall, including 71% from inside the arc. The 30-point margin was the largest for the Cornhuskers in a Big Ten win since beating Rutgers by 34 in 2016.
Wisconsin (7-3, 1-1) got 20 points from Nick Boyd and 10 from Nolan Winter. But John Blackwell, the reigning Big Ten player of the week, had seven points on 1-of-11 shooting.
The Badgers, who came in shooting 45.3% and averaging 87.9 points, shot 34.4% overall and were 7 of 32 (21.9%) from 3-point range.
Nebraska led 47-31 at the half, getting it to a 20-point margin on a 3-pointer by Sandfort with 15:55 remaining in the game. Wisconsin got as close as 66-48 before the Cornhuskers ran off nine in a row.
Wisconsin started off hot for a 13-9 lead, but then attempted 13 consecutive 3-pointers with only two going in. Nebraska was hitting from inside and out, including four straight makes on layups and paint jumpers to build a 27-22 edge with 7:51 left in the first half.
The Badgers went more than five minutes without a basket yet were only down three, but the Cornhuskers ripped off a 10-0 run over the final three-plus minutes of the half.
